OKLAHOMA CITY – (March 22, 2023) – Paycom Software, Inc. (NYSE:PAYC), a leading provider of HR software, celebrated their gift of $50,000 to Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation (OKCPS Foundation) in honor of National Reading Month. The funding is part of a two-year commitment and supports ReadOKC, a literacy program aiming to instill the love of reading in Oklahoma City Public Schools’ students and the community.
ReadOKC increases community access to books in several ways, including the ReadOKC on the Go! mobile book bus where students are given the opportunity to select a book to keep. The program also engages thousands of OKCPS students via reading challenges over school breaks and provides classroom Reading Buddy volunteers who read with and mentor students.
“Reading and literacy has a profound effect on student success, and ReadOKC brings the community into schools to encourage and motivate students to make reading part of their every day,” said Mary Mélon-Tully, president and CEO of the OKCPS Foundation. “Paycom’s support of the OKCPS Foundation is indicative of the company’s commitment to our community and children. Our schools can’t do it alone, and we can’t do our work at the foundation without the help of our community partners. Paycom lives its values, and we sincerely appreciate their leadership and support.”
A portion of the funds will also support DonorsChoose, a nonprofit resource where teachers are empowered to request funding directly from donors for innovative projects and basic classroom needs.
“We strive to work with organizations making a big difference in the community,” said Charles Franks, manager of talent acquisition at Paycom and OKCPS alumnus. “Access to books from a young age can produce a range of benefits like improved literacy, increased creativity and greater concentration. Championing programs like these are sustainable ways we help create a brighter future for children and educators in our community.”
Paycom regularly partners with community programs, including educational causes, that ensure basic needs are met and encourage a brighter future for all.
