What’s New With the WOTC Tax Credit in 2021?

According to the IRS, “The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a Federal tax credit available to employers for hiring individuals from certain targeted groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment.”

Initially, the WOTC was established under the Small Business Job Protection Act of 1996 and has been extended multiple times since.

In the past, the WOTC program has enabled companies to receive up to $9,600 in tax credits for each qualifying employee hired, with no limit on the number of qualifying individuals.
