Around the world, June is recognized as Pride Month. We’re proud to celebrate this month in honor of all our LGBTQ+ co-workers, friends, families and allies.
At Paycom, our people are our priority. We encourage everyone in the Paycom organization to form deeper relationships based on mutual respect and understanding, and we’ve worked to build a culture that weaves this approach to diversity and inclusion into everything we do.
This month, we’re celebrating employee stories, and we’re proud to introduce Chase. After completing a bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma State University, he found his passion while finishing his master’s degree: working with college students.
Prior to Paycom, Chase spent five years in higher education coordinating student advisement, military programs and outreach. So when he applied for and landed a technical college recruiter role at Paycom, Chase knew he’d found the perfect career fit.
We asked Chase to share more about his Paycom journey.
What’s the main reason you chose a career at Paycom?
I chose a career at Paycom for the opportunities for growth and challenge.
Describe what you do in your current role.
As a collegiate recruiter, I coordinate recruiting activities and develop and maintain relationships with academic faculty, staff and student organizations. I manage Paycom’s brand and image on college campuses, guide stakeholders on recruitment processes and programs and act as the main point of contact for students.
I chose my current role as a technical college recruiter because I am still able to be in front of a classroom, guide college students and be in a campus environment.
What’s your favorite thing about being in your department and/or role?
I love being able to travel to different universities to hire the best of the best.
What does Pride Month mean to you?
Pride means to me a time when people from all backgrounds can reflect on what it truly means to be accepted and promote self-affirmation.
What makes you proud to work at Paycom?
It’s great knowing that I work for a company that allows me to be my true self and gives back to the community to show the importance of being inclusive.
What would you tell a co-worker if they had questions about the LGBTQ+ community?
I would encourage them to have an open mind and reach out to someone they feel comfortable talking to.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your free time?
I love to exercise! CrossFit/running/Orangetheory; training for races or competitions; spending time with family; and trying new places to eat.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Hands down — tacos! You can have a variety of different tacos.
